Production system for insulation contractors and cladding workshops
Drawing in IBUS feels as direct as pen and paper. At the same time, it creates a geometrically complete, production-ready data set—ready for work preparation, nesting and the cutting system.

One digital process
Developed from industrial insulation practice
IBUS replaces neither experience nor on-site judgement. It ensures that the insulation specialist’s decision remains intact through workshop production, installation, invoicing and documentation without repeated interpretation.

The real installation context
These sketches show how much specialist knowledge is contained in dimensions, symbols and fabrication details. Under certain conditions, a field measurement can be prepared from piping isometrics—for example for advance prefabrication on major new-build projects. Clearances to neighbouring lines, screw access, installation direction and a workable seam position are assessed most reliably on the installed plant. This requires a mobile interface that lets specialists capture pipe routes and components as a model directly at the work site—the purpose for which IBUS Mobile is designed.

Today’s production workflow
The workflow works because experienced specialists read, complete and carry the information forward at every handover.
After release, the field measurer records the installed pipe, dimensions, installation context and fabrication details in a survey notebook.
In the office, notes and sketches are checked and combined into a legible technical drawing.
The workshop reads the measurement, divides the route into components and segments and defines the fabrication process.
Cladding parts are marked out or machine-cut, beaded, rolled, folded, identified and installed on site.
Quantities, allowances, material and work progress are compiled from drawings, lists and feedback.
The IBUS approach
IBUS begins with field measurement and keeps geometry, seam positions, production parameters, components and segments in one shared data set. Every following stage continues from that basis—for plausibility checks, sheet-metal development, bills of materials, QR assignment, estimating and documentation.
Mobile field measurement
In IBUS Mobile, the route is drawn and dimensioned at the installation site as naturally as on paper. Clearances, component sequence, seam positions and production parameters remain structured on each component. Plausibility checks support the field measurer before the data continues into work preparation and the workshop.

Workshop report 2_001
The new workshop report combines the overall view, workshop specification and every production-critical component in one clearly structured document. Dimensions, connections and execution details are available exactly where the workshop needs them.
The production system
In IBUS, an isometric is not merely drawn. It becomes a living production model containing geometry, material parameters, connection types, cladding segments, seam positions and every detail required by downstream processes.
That is the key difference. A digital field measurement delivers more than a picture for the workshop: it provides structured, reusable data for work preparation, prefabrication, nesting, cutting, delivery and installation.
The digital foundation
IBUS Mobile captures isometrics, piping components, elbows, fixed-length sections and production parameters in one shared model. The spatial view makes geometry verifiable; the structured component logic makes it usable throughout every subsequent production step.

Pipe routes, elbows, connections and the component sequence remain together as a complete isometric model.
Diameters, radii, cladding joints, segments and further production details are assigned unambiguously.
Field measurement becomes the foundation for bills of materials, flat patterns, work preparation and cutting.
From site to production
IBUS keeps information moving. Every step uses, extends and refines the same technical foundation.
Pipe routes, clearances, seam positions and installation access are captured in context at the real installation site.
Isometric drawing · Installation context · Technical parameters
The isometric model generates component and segment data, sheet-metal flat patterns, a bill of materials and workshop documents.
Sheet-metal development · Segments · Bill of materials
Material demand, allowances, production scope and order status become visible from the same data foundation.
Material · Allowances · Capacity
Automated nesting was developed to make the best possible use of sheet metal and minimise scrap.
Utilisation · Cutting paths · Remnants
Contours, production attributes and QR identification are ready for precise cutting and unambiguous assignment.

The system in practice
These views show four stages of the same production process. Field measurements are not exported and forgotten; they remain the data foundation through order management, prefabrication, nesting and machine transfer.
Full view ↗MPOs, sheet stock, status information and exports remain easy to find and control within each project.
Full view ↗Elbows, fixed-length sections, metre runs and special components are prepared with workshop and material parameters.
Full view ↗Sheet layout, area utilisation, cutting sequence and NC generation are combined in one production step.
Full view ↗The reduced isometric view keeps centre lines, lengths and component relationships legible even in complex surveys.
QR codes and production progress
IBUS generates QR identification directly from the production data set. A scan makes assignment traceable and supports progress documentation from the workshop through delivery to installation.
Identify the component and its production order unambiguously.
Keep picking and site assignment traceable.
Retrieve the installation position and progress directly from the component.
Estimating and client documentation
IBUS combines bills of materials, allowances, panels, elbow segments and material information from the component data. Drawings and isometrics can be provided by project or cost centre for the office, workshop and client.

Production depth
Industrial insulation involves more than lengths and diameters. IBUS models the details that turn a field measurement into a production-ready component—from elbows and end caps to nozzles, cut-outs and special geometries.

Operational impact
Production details are complete earlier. Flat patterns, seam positions, beads and connections are resolved before cutting, not later on site.
Better-fitting components reduce adjustments, unplanned fitting pieces, remakes and additional journeys—cutting labour effort where it matters most, on site.
Bills of materials, panels, elbow segments, allowances and cost-centre documents come from the same technical basis for estimating and post-calculation.
Consistent technical symbols and embedded production logic make experience understandable for new colleagues using modern working tools.
